| 1. What do physical therapists do? |
Physical therapists help restore function, improve mobility, relieve pain and prevent permanent physical disabilities of patients with injuries. They restore, maintain and promote overall fitness and health.

| 2. What is the difference between PT and OT? |
Physical therapists are most recognized for their work in restoring function of legs, back, neck, torso, upper arm and shoulder region. They also work with wound care patients.
Occupational therapists are most commonly recognized for restoring function of the upper extremities, especially hand therapy, as well as addressing daily living activities.

| 3. Do you keep in touch with my physician? |
A copy of your treatment plan is sent to your doctor as well as updates at regular intervals. Your therapist will contact your physician as needed between appointments.

| 4. How often will I come for therapy? How long are my treatments? How long will my therapy last? |
Sometimes your doctor will decide how often you come to therapy, other times your doctor will allow the therapist to determine the frequency of your treatments.
The length of your treatment will vary by patient, however usually a treatment ranges from 30-60 minutes.
You will continue your therapy sessions until you and your therapist decide you have achieved your goals, or that further skilled therapy would not be beneficial.

| 5. Will I see the same therapist every time? |
UPT will attempt to schedule you with the therapist you wish to see, however there may be times when another therapist will treat you due to scheduling conflicts. You may also choose to take advantage of the diverse educational backgrounds of our entire therapy staff.

| 7. What are your hours? |
UPT has office hours from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and all other appointments by arrangement.

Our office is located at 2100 North Kimball Street, Mitchell. We also provide services at the Plankinton Wellness Center on Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons.
